Injectables can help restore lost volume to your face, smooth wrinkles, or even reduce a double chin, but making sure the injections are done accurately and safely is key. Dr. Jeffrey S. Poulter is board-certified and has 30 years of experience using injectables. He has treated over 20,000 patients and has performed nearly 20,000 Botox injections. He also holds the designation of Master Injector by Allergan, having attended master classes with Dr. Mauricio de Maio of Brazil in 2014 and 2015. Dr. Poulter also achieved the Platinum Plus designation by Allergan, which recognizes extensive experience with Allergan products. He is currently the only injector in the Central Illinois area to offer Kybella. Since he has experience operating in the same areas he is injecting, Dr. Poulter has a better understanding of the anatomy and the level of injection as well as the danger areas.
Injectables include Botox, Juvederm, Voluma and Kybella, which are all FDA approved and can each be used to target certain areas. Botox temporarily weakens the muscles that cause wrinkles, giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. It can be used on forehead wrinkles, smile lines, ‘bunny lines’ on the side of the nose, ‘turkey neck,’ the upper lip, and lines between the eyebrows. It can also be used for non-aesthetic purposes, such as muscle imbalances, headaches, and excessive sweating.
Juvederm is a dermal filler which restores lost volume to give your face a smoother, rejuvenated look without surgery. It can be used to treat nasolabial folds, ‘marionette lines’ (from the corner of the mouth to the jaw), forehead wrinkles, upper and lower lips, the corner of the mouth (elevates downturned corners), facial scars, indentations and asymmetry (acne and surgical), and augmentation of facial features (such as the nose and chin.
Voluma is known as the ‘antigravity’ dermal filler approved for the treatment of moderate to sever facial wrinkles and folds, as well as enhancing the lower eyelids and augmenting think or wrinkled lips. An added benefit of Voluma is since there is less hydrophilic, there is less swelling after the injection. The patient can review results as the treatment proceeds. Many patients are amazed at the ability to see the results while in the treatment chair!
Kybella is the newest product from Allergan and is a solution to a double chin. It removes submental fat cells, and is as effective as liposuction in the submental area. Patients require at least two treatments, and possible third or fourth injections to obtain the best results. Both initial treatments are included in the initial cost. Long term complications are rare, and long term results
Understanding the differences between injectables can help you achieve the results you are looking for. Thoughtful application of the injectables is determined on an individual – not a preplanned, ‘one-size-fits-all’ program. Dr. Poulter understands that not everyone is the same, and not everyone has the same goal. He provides consultations to help design a treatment plan just for you.
